AUCKLAND NUDE YOGA

Yogi's & Yogini's,

If you haven't
experienced one of our classes recenetly or at all, now is the time

I receive many emails each week from people who want to come, but don't for a variety of reasons (fear, body image, never practiced yoga before, etc). Trust me when I say that those feelings or emotions will quickly
dissolve and usually after the first 10 minutes of class. That is feedback from some of the people who have written to me previously with the same concerns and now see some major differences within as a result of their practice.

Yoga is a practice, your practice! Like most things in life, the more we practice, the more we improve and or gain. However, yoga is a slight exception to that rule as there is no final posture, no scoring and no end game (at least for the physical side of your body). I've been reminded that very same message by some of my teachers (many times and still).

To understand this concept at the surface level is pretty straight forward and makes sense. However, what we demonstrate when we are on our mat is the true test of how well we understand it.

So the next time you come to your mat, allow it to act like a mirror that is reflecting your inner image, your truth or even a reflection of whats happening inside for you. Let your mat reflect one good thing as you settle into practice. For just a few moments, find gratitude and thanks for whatever it is

See you in class!

Welcome August

August is your month. What you plant today, will harvest later.... so choose wisely!

Happy August Everyone!

Depending on where you live, winter can be a hard month for planting just about anything. In Auckland, the last few weeks included hail, thunder, wind and rain making it difficult for new growth to take place. Although difficult, still possible! As in the weather, life can be rocky sometimes too... but, unlike plants, we humans have a better chance of finding stability in it.

August is a good time to take a close look at the seeds that we planted within. Reasons for planting them and how to use them when ready for harvest. Each year can be different, sometimes we plant the same seeds and sometimes new ones. In a large way, that is exactly what yoga has always been about to me... planting seeds and allowing the growth to take place, even in a bad storm.

Top 10 true statements about Nude Yoga... in case you were wondering

Have you experienced EGO or JUDGEMENT in a typical yoga studio class… expensive yoga clothing, perfect bodies, etc?

The greatest thing about Nude Yoga is that the below quote is spot on!

“when we are naked, we are all the same”

1)     Taking off your clothes for the first time will be the hardest part
2)     Sexual energy is the furthest thing from anyone's mind
3)     You will be nervous, AT FIRST
4)     But, after the first few minutes, you will forget that your naked
5)     If you tried it, come back and see how different it feels after your 2nd, 3rd and 4th class
6)     See what happens to your ego, confidence, and fears outside of yoga class
7)     You will soon realise that there is no such thing as a perfect body
8)     Those who you consider to have the perfect body, still think they don’t
9)     There are many reasons and benefits to practice nude yoga
10)    Life just feels good when you experience new things

You have thought about it, so why not give it a go! RSVP before the class fills up!

Have you challenged yourself recently?

A challenge in terms of new experiences, things that might be out of your comfort zone and even interest levels?

We launched our first coed nude class this week and it sold out quickly! Next weeks class looks like the same thing is going to happen! We all have self created rules that exist deep within ourselves, sometimes their from our parents, how we were raised, life experiences or from wherever. When you challenge these internal rules, you will be surprised what transitions start to occur in your mind and thinking. All the sudden new and different possibilities start to pop up that never existed before.

Auckland Nude Yoga is about creating the space for new things, mindfulness and developing stronger levels of comfort (we all have demons and things that keep the mind turning). Read our FAQ's, guidelines and sign up for one of our classes.

Welcome to June!

Fact: If Everyone's Naked, No One's Naked!
- When It Occurs, The Truth Comes Out -
Truth: We Are All One and The Same!

Mens Class 6:00pm & Coed 7:00pm (Westmere location)
Hey Yogi's & Yogini's,

Auckland Nude Yoga has been offering classes for almost 2 months and we are gaining so much interest that we just added a second class. Our second and newest class, COED NUDE YOGA, will start on the 14th of June. The classes are selling out fast, so book early.

Every week I receive lots of emails from people about different things, but the recent trends have been around topics such as "yoga newness or yoga nudeness".  Being new to anything can be fearful, but adding the aspect of being naked in public will easily double the fear.

When you come to our class and remove your clothes for the first time, you will start to only just begin to understand some of the longer term reasons and benefits of a regular nude yoga practice, such as;
  • There is no ego or judgement to hide behind when we are all naked, we truly are just one! We all have the same level of emotion, fears and insecurities. When we start from a place of being equal and having balance, comfort is found (in class and elsewhere).
  • You will begin to lose your perceptions of what we think body image is suppose to look like. A higher sense of confidence takes over you and you start to realise that fear is truly self-limiting.
  • If you can breath, you can do yoga. If you can breath and not allow your ego to take over (even temporarily), you are truly on your way!
So if you haven't booked a class with us yet, now is your time!

Private yoga sessions are also an option to begin a new yoga practice. Most private yoga sessions cost on average around a $100.00 a session. For my Auckland Nude Yoga group members, I offer $60.00 private yoga sessions at my home studio in Herne Bay ($80.00 for a couple).  You can even book online, via the class registration page if you are interested.

Looking forward to seeing you on the mat!

Brian

Coed Classes & Back to Westmere Studio Soon

Yogis & Yoginis,

We are back on, with more classes and now a weekly coed class (based on enough demand). Here are 3 important updates.

  • For the next 3 weeks, our mens class will take place at the Grey Lynn Community Centre on Richmond Rd in the Balcony room (which is up the stairs and to the right). These next 3 classes will start at 7:30pm on Tuesday. Space is very limited, so please make sure you book to reserve a spot.
  • As of 14 June, we will be back at our Westmere studio for a Mens Class at 6:00pm - 6:55pm and NOW a COED class right after at 7:00pm - 7:55pm.
  • Class information and your ability to RSVP for these classes have been updated on the website. Click here to book now!

The Universe provides

Yogis & Yoginis,

When youa have trust in the universe, the universe provides!  This Tuesday I will become a New Zealand Citizen (with so much pride and excitement), so our mens Tuesday class will be canceled for the week.

The good news is that we are back on for mens yoga on the 24 May (at a slightly different time and location).

Check the AKLnYoga website in a few days as I will update the location details soon. I'm still in the process of confirming the venue, but it will most likely be the Grey Lynn Community Centre on Richmond Rd). The bad news is that I don't think we can fit more then 11 people per class. So it's very important to RSVP... I only have 5 slots left for next Tuesdays class, so make sure you register.

I'm also trying to get us back into our Westmere location in about 6 weeks. Hoping we can be back on Tuesdays for a 6:15 mens class.  I'm attempting to organise a second class that evening for a coed yoga class (to start around 7:15).

On Friday, I did a little interview with the Herrald, and they asked if anyone (any of you) would be interested in having a few photos taken during a special class that I would host (no face or other parts included). If interested, please send me an email and if you want to read the Herrald article, click here.

I love receiving your comments and questions, so please continue to send them.
